What they need
Job Summary
Odysse is a growing, data-driven electric vehicle fleet operator. We manage a fleet of over 50 electric vehicles, and counting, operated by professional employed drivers on major ride-hailing platforms in London's private hire (PCO) market. We combine technology, data and hands-on fleet management to deliver efficient, reliable and sustainable mobility services.
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on EV Fleet Manager to take ownership of our fleet operations, driver performance and commercial results.
We need someone who is comfortable leading a team, working directly with drivers, analysing performance, solving operational problems and taking responsibility for results. Someone who can manage today's operations while continuously improving how we work.
Typical package includes
- Salary: £45,000 per annum, subject to experience
- Performance bonus: Up to 10% of annual base salary, subject to achievement of agreed performance objectives
- Paid annual leave and company pension
- Employment: Full-time, permanent PAYE position
- Location: Croydon, London
- Reports to: COO
Duties
- Own fleet performance: Set and understand weekly targets, monitor KPIs, identify performance gaps and take action to improve results.
- Lead the Crew Chief: Set priorities, delegate routine driver management tasks and ensure things get done.
- Stay hands-on with drivers: Conduct inductions, coach drivers, address performance issues and handle escalations personally.
- Keep vehicles productive: Oversee maintenance, repairs, vehicle availability and operational downtime.
- Manage safety and compliance: Handle incidents, enforce company policies and maintain professional driving standards.
- Solve operational problems: Take ownership of difficult situations, make decisions and escalate only when necessary.
- Help improve the business: Identify inefficiencies, improve processes and implement operational changes alongside the COO.
- Support recruitment: Participate in final driver interviews when required and help maintain a reliable, productive driver workforce.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience in fleet, transport, logistics or similar operational management.
- Proven experience managing drivers or frontline operational teams.
- Commercial awareness and confidence working with KPIs, targets and performance data.
- Ability to manage difficult conversations, performance issues and operational escalations.
- Practical knowledge of vehicle operations, maintenance and incident management.
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and confidence using digital systems and operational management tools.
- Familiarity with AI tools (such as ChatGPT) and willingness to use them to improve productivity, analyse information and streamline everyday tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally and effectively with drivers, colleagues and external partners.
- A proactive, accountable and firm but fair management style.
- Full UK driving licence.
Experience in private hire, electric vehicles or TfL compliance would be an advantage, but is not essential.
What we offer
- Salary: £45,000 per annum, subject to experience
- Performance bonus: Up to 10% of annual base salary, subject to achievement of agreed performance objectives
Why join Odysse?
