We're a relatively small team, which means apprentices don't disappear into the background here. You'll work alongside experienced members of the business, deal with real customers and suppliers, and quickly start taking responsibility for your own areas.

Most importantly, our apprenticeship programme isn't designed to give someone 18 months of work experience – it's designed to start a career.

Since 2013, we've used our apprenticeship programme to find talented people with the right attitude and develop them within Fleet Evolution. In fact, all but three members of our team originally joined us through our apprenticeship programme, with many progressing into experienced and senior roles within the business.

We're now looking for our next Fleet Operations Apprentice to join our Operations team.

What will you be doing?

Our Operations team supports and manages a growing fleet of more than 1,500 vehicles, supporting drivers throughout the entire life of their vehicle.

You'll learn how to manage vehicles from delivery right through to their eventual return, while working with customers, dealerships, garages, leasing companies and other suppliers.

Your responsibilities will develop as your knowledge and confidence grow and will include:

• Helping manage our existing fleet of 1,500+ vehicles
• Supporting customers with day-to-day vehicle queries
• Arranging servicing, MOTs, tyres and other vehicle maintenance
• Coordinating vehicle movements, collections and deliveries
• Carrying out driving licence checks
• Completing vehicle checks and inspections
• Identifying vehicle damage against specified fair wear and tear standards
• Supporting the end-of-contract vehicle return process
• Maintaining accurate vehicle and customer records
• Liaising with garages, dealerships, leasing companies and other suppliers
• Reporting key operational issues to customers and our senior management team

And that's just where you'll start.

As you learn more about the business, we'll give you more responsibility and ownership. We don't recruit apprentices to make the tea and coffee – we recruit them because we're looking for the people who could become the future of Fleet Evolution.

Who are we looking for?

You don't need previous experience in the motor or fleet industry – we'll teach you that.

We're much more interested in your attitude, organisation and willingness to learn.

You'll ideally be someone who:

• Is organised and enjoys planning and coordinating things
• Likes solving logistical problems and working out the best way to get something from A to B
• Has excellent attention to detail
• Is confident communicating with customers and suppliers
• Is comfortable taking responsibility for your own work
• Is positive, hardworking and friendly
• Is keen to learn and isn't afraid to ask questions
• Enjoys working as part of a small team
• Wants to build a career rather than simply find their next job

You'll also need to be comfortable carrying out vehicle inspections and identifying items that fall outside defined standards. Full training will be provided.

Driving licence

A full UK driving licence is essential for this role as you'll occasionally be involved in collecting and delivering vehicles.

Please note that our office is in a location with limited public transport, so you'll also need to be able to reliably travel to and from work.

Your apprenticeship

You'll spend approximately 18 months completing a recognised apprenticeship qualification while working as a full member of our Operations team.

You'll receive structured training and support throughout your apprenticeship, but you'll also learn by actually doing the job.

Because we're a small business, you'll get exposure to much more than one department. During your apprenticeship you'll have the opportunity to learn about areas including:

• Operations
• Customer Care
• Customer Engagement
• Finance
• Marketing

This gives you a much better understanding of how the whole business works and helps us identify where your strengths and longer-term career could take you.

Your salary and progression

We want our apprentices to stay and build their careers with us, so your salary will increase as you progress through the programme.

You'll start on £17,000 per year while you learn the role and begin your apprenticeship.

After 12 months, your salary will increase to the applicable National Living Wage.

Once you've successfully completed your apprenticeship, your salary will increase to £25,000 per year.

And that's not where your progression has to stop.

Our apprenticeship programme has been built around developing people into permanent roles within Fleet Evolution, and our existing team demonstrates just how far that progression can go.

As your experience, knowledge and responsibilities grow, there will be further opportunities for career and salary progression within the business.

Your progression doesn't have to stay within Operations either. As you develop, there may be opportunities to specialise or move into other areas of Fleet Evolution.

Qualifications

You'll need:

• A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
• Maths and English at grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
• A full UK driving licence
