The role:

We currently have opportunities for a registered nurses to join our patient transport service team on a part-time basis as a Flight Nurse at Bankstown Airport.

Key responsibilities will include:

• collect and record patient information during transfers; undertake nursing interventions in accordance with clinical practice guidelines;
• Coordinate the transition of the patient from one mode of transport to the next
• Actively participate in the loading / unloading and manoeuvring of patients pre and post transfer, ensuring the use of appropriate manual handling techniques and standard operating procedures
• Maintain CareFlight standard operating procedures and clinical treatment protocols, including adapting to changes as they occur
• Clean and restock equipment / supplies at completion of patient transfer

About you:

To be successful in this role you will be registered with AHPRA as a ‘Registered Nurse’ and be available to attend mandatory training, held at Bankstown Airport. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate you have:

• A minimum of five years’ experience working in an acute care setting A current certification in ALS / APLS
• A current IV cannulation certification
• Ability to work under clinical practice guidelines
• Strong knowledge and understanding of safety and quality principles as they pertain to role
• The willingness and ability to function effectively as a team member
• Comfortable working in confined space and out of hospital environments
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Effective consultation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Good Microsoft Office skills
• Current driver’s licence
• Current Working with Children clearance or the ability to obtain

 The following will also be highly regarded:

• Previous experience working in a patient transfer setting
