Overall Purpose: Why the Job Exists & What You Will Do:

Under general direction, lead the Weld Department to ensure manufacturing procedures are performed as required.

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role

• Maintaining High Quality and Efficiency (90% of the job)

• Train current and new employees in all aspects of the Weld Department and monitor floor activities

• Participate in process auditing working closely with the Quality Team

• Oversee the Weld Team to ensure items are moving according to schedules and on-time delivery measures are met as set by lean metric goals

• Uphold RC Industries quality model by ensuring the Weld Team performs all in-process checks and work with the Quality Team as needed

• Must complete weekly cycle counts and re-checks in an accurate fashion to meet the needs of the materials group at RC.

• Lead continuous improvements – work instructions, process sheets, TPM, etc.

• Keep standard work sheets up to date and create new as needed

• Ensure 5s assignments are complete

• Participate in and lead inventory efforts like cycle counting and Physical inventory. Be sure all items are labeled, organized, consolidated and in the right locations.

• Timely labor reporting for jobs completed in Shop Floor Mobile

• Wear required Persona Protective Equipment and abide by safety rules at all times

• Mentoring & Training (5% of the job)

• Use strengths and skills to mentor and train others in meeting and exceeding delivery dates and customer expectations

• Supports leaders and other team areas as needed to meet overall team goals

• Participate in incident investigations as needed

• Other Areas of Responsibility (5% of the job)

• Attend and hold safety meetings as needed

• Follow RCII’s policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook

• Participate in lean manufacturing activities

• Assist engineering and sales on special projects

• Open and close plants and set alarms as needed

Equipment Used:

• This role routinely uses various machinery, hand tools, computers, calculators, and other quality control devices.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:

• Ability to stand or walk on concrete surfaces seven plus hours per day
• Ability to use hands and fingers to operate hand assembly devices, machinery and other equipment or tools in a safe way for seven plus hours per day
• Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull and lift up to 50-75 pounds independently to move product on a regular basis
• Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull and lift over 75 pounds as part of a team lift or using a lifting device
• Ability to review procedures, do basic math and measurement computations as well as visually compare product to quality specifications

Environmental Conditions & Travel:

• The employee is primarily exposed to a manufacturing environment with moderate noise. The employee is occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting manufacturing departments.
• The manufacturing warehouse has heat; however, temperature fluctuates throughout the day.
• Various machinery, equipment and forklifts are used in the manufacturing areas. Employees should use extreme caution, follow all safety procedures, and wear all required PPE to ensure safety for themselves and others

Position Requirements:

• Education: A high school diploma or GED

• **Experience:**Minimum 5 years leadership experience in a similar front-line leadership role or minimum 10 years’ experience in a welding role. Knowledge or certification in MIG, TIG and forms of welding (spot welding), steel, stainless steel and aluminum and maintenance of said equipment.

• Functional Skills:

• Ability to oversee both aluminum and steel robots

• Use of measuring tools such as tape measure, calipers, micrometers, etc.

• Able to read, understand and follow work instructions and blue prints

• Able to work using small hand tools at a good speed

• Able to be flexible and move from job to job as priorities change

• Ability to drive a forklift

• Technology Aptitude/Skills: Ability to use computers to review procedures and enter data

• Language Skills: Able to read/write/speak English fluently and is able to fill out all required forms and paperwork needed for the position; communicates in a positive way
