Position Summary: The Floater performs various office and clinical duties to keep the Care Center running efficiently.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Answer all incoming calls and route them to appropriate personnel; take messages and send tasks as necessary.
• Schedule, confirm, and cancel office appointments as patients call in.
• Coordinate all aspects of hospital consults called in.
• Schedule recall appointments.
• Manage the use of telephone service.
• Reschedule no-show appointments.
• Complete tasks in Gastro systems daily.
• Pick up voicemail messages daily, twice a day.
• Manage the patient portal queue from our EMR daily.
• Schedule website appointment requests.
• Schedule Fast Track Colonoscopy (FTC) appointments.
• Verify patient’s health plan benefits & obtain authorization, if needed
• Greet patients in a pleasant and timely manner
• Check in all patients
• Collect all applicable co-payment, coinsurance, deductible, or outstanding balances from the patient
• Posting of all payments collected
• Verify insurance benefits and eligibility
• Ensure the patient has a current referral on the date of service. Obtain referral if necessary
• Scan active medical insurance cards as well as a valid driver’s license or equivalent ID in the practice management system
• Enters practice management system additional physician if the patient has more than one
• Research and assist patients with questions regarding balances including collecting applicable payments
• Maintains cleanliness and neatness of lobby/reception area
• Maintain business card holder in lobby/reception area full at all time
• Other duties as assigned

Job Specifications/Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in medical practice or a similar setting
• Medical terminology knowledge required
• eClinicalWorks (eCW) experience preferred

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Computer Literate
• Customer Service
• Data Entry
• Knowledge of insurance carrier requirements
• Must be willing to cross-train
