Floating Assistant Teacher

Family Focus is seeking a caring, dependable, and flexible Floating Assistant Teacher to join our Early Childhood Education team. This position provides support across multiple classrooms, assisting teachers with daily activities while helping create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with children of various ages, can adapt to changing classroom needs, and values being part of a supportive team committed to high-quality early care and education.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with daily classroom routines, activities, and transitions.
• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment.
• Supervise children and ensure compliance with safety and licensing requirements.
• Provide coverage in classrooms as needed throughout the program.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Follow all Family Focus policies, procedures, and Maine child care licensing regulations.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Ability to meet all Maine DHHS requirements, including required immunizations and background checks
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Preferred

• Experience working with young children in a child care or educational setting
• Early childhood education coursework, training, or credentials
• Participation in the Maine Roads to Quality (MRTQ) Career Lattice

Pay & Benefits

• Starting wage of $17.00 per hour and up
• Higher wages available based on education, experience, and MRTQ Career Lattice Level
