Floor Supervisor

Our Floor Supervisor role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys leading from the front. This is a hands-on role where you’ll balance hospitality, team leadership, and day-to-day retail/customer facing operations—ensuring both our guests and team members have a consistently positive experience. We’re looking for someone who has prior supervisory experience directing teams and leading by example, is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of the floor while keeping things running smoothly during busy service.

The salary includes the base hourly rate as listed, plus shared tips.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has proven experience leading teams in a supervisory role, in the food service industry
• Thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys balancing strong hospitality with efficient execution.
• Naturally steps into a leadership role—guiding the team, setting the tone on the floor, and jumping in wherever needed to keep operations running smoothly.
• Values great service just as much as great food, and takes pride in delivering both consistently.
• Is comfortable supervising a team of retail associates, runners, bussers, packers, and baristas—keeping everyone motivated, supported, and accountable during a shift.
• Excels at multitasking and enjoys managing multiple priorities at once, from assigning tasks and managing breaks to troubleshooting in real time.
• Can confidently handle customer escalations with professionalism, calmness, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
• Leads by example—someone who shows, not just tells, and is willing to jump into any role, whether that’s supporting the coffee bar, assisting on the floor, or resetting tables.
• Has a strong attention to detail, ensuring product displays are well-maintained and the café remains clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout the day.
• Is interested in coaching and developing others, and takes initiative and shows pride in training new team members.
• Communicates clearly and directly with both FOH staff and BOH teams.
• Remains calm and focused under pressure, especially during busy brunch service hours and weekends.
• Takes food safety, quality control, and operational standards seriously—and upholds them consistently.
• Is flexible and adaptable, able to move between roles (including barista and retail positions) as needed. We train Floor Managers for the barista position, for those without prior experience.
• Has a genuine appreciation for (or eagerness to learn about) quality coffee, breads, and baked goods.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years in food service.
• Experience supervising shift-based teams of 10-12.
• Prior experience as a barista is helpful, but not required.
• Food handling certificate is helpful, but not required.
• Has reliable transportation, as this role rotates between our Millburn bakery and Short Hills kiosk.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Full-time availability, and available to work flexible hours, including mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by the service industry.
