Position Overview

Our client, a growing commercial flooring company in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Flooring Estimator to join its team. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for commercial flooring projects by evaluating project plans, specifications, material requirements, labor costs, and installation requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial flooring products and installation methods, the ability to interpret construction drawings, and experience developing estimates for projects of varying sizes and complexity. This role will work closely with project managers, suppliers, and clients to support the bidding process and help ensure projects are priced accurately and competitively.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial flooring projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and installation expenses.

• Review and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.

• Perform material takeoffs and calculate quantities for flooring products, adhesives, underlayments, and other installation materials.

• Obtain and evaluate pricing from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors to develop competitive bids.

• Analyze project requirements, identify potential cost considerations, and ensure estimates account for all applicable expenses.

• Prepare and review bid proposals, pricing schedules, and supporting documentation for submission to prospective clients.

• Collaborate with project managers, sales representatives, suppliers, and clients to clarify project details and address estimating questions.

• Evaluate bid opportunities and assist in determining competitive pricing strategies.

• Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, material pricing, and project documentation.

• Monitor changes in material costs, product availability, and industry trends to maintain accurate and up-to-date pricing.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Flooring Estimator or in a similar estimating role within commercial flooring or commercial construction.

• Strong knowledge of commercial flooring products, materials, and installation methods.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and bid documents.

• Experience performing material takeoffs and calculating labor and installation costs.

• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, vendors, and clients.

• Ability to manage multiple estimates and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of commercial construction bidding practices and project requirements.
