Location: Southfield, MI — 8 Mile Road

We are seeking an experienced Flooring Store Manager with strong flooring knowledge, proven sales ability, and the leadership skills to manage daily store operations. We offer competitive compensation for a knowledgeable professional who can lead a team, grow sales, and guide customers from product selection through estimating and purchase.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in the flooring industry, works confidently with computers, and takes ownership of both customer satisfaction and store performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily showroom operations and maintain a professional, organized store.
• Help customers select flooring products based on their needs, style, and budget.
• Explain product features, installation requirements, and maintenance.
• Visit customers’ homes to present products, assess project needs, and take accurate measurements.
• Prepare computerized estimates, quotes, invoices, and sales orders.
• Follow up with customers, close sales, and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Manage inventory, monitor stock levels, and coordinate product ordering and deliveries.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise employees; manage performance and disciplinary matters, including termination when necessary.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and installers to keep projects organized and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate sales, inventory, and customer records.
• Recruit, evaluate, and onboard qualified flooring installers and installation crews.
• Manage installers, communicate expectations, and hold crews accountable for workmanship, professionalism, and timely completion.
• Schedule installations and coordinate customer availability, material deliveries, and crew assignments.
• Visit jobsites before, during, and after installation to verify measurements, assess site conditions, monitor progress, and inspect completed work.
• Communicate with customers and installers to resolve scheduling conflicts, installation concerns, and service issues.
• Track each project from sale through completion, including estimates, invoices, materials, installation schedules, and final customer follow-up.

Required Qualifications

• Previous flooring industry experience with strong knowledge of flooring products and the sales process.
• Store management or comparable leadership experience.
• Ability to measure flooring projects, calculate material quantities, and prepare accurate estimates.
• Experience creating invoices, quotes, and orders using computer software.
• Strong sales, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience hiring, training, and managing employees.
• Ability to learn new products, software, and procedures quickly.
• A valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for customer appointments.
• A dependable, professional approach and the ability to work independently.
• Experience recruiting and managing flooring installers, scheduling installation projects, and overseeing jobsites, with a strong understanding of installation methods, subfloor preparation, material requirements, and quality standards.
