We’re looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Florist to join our Floral team at New World Te Rapa!

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Floral Manager, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the Floral Department. You’ll help create beautiful floral displays, provide exceptional customer service and support the team to achieve department goals.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational

• Take joint responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Floral Department.
• Deliver exceptional, friendly and professional customer service.
• Ensure floral products and displays are fresh, creative and presented to the highest standard.
• Drive innovation and develop the Floral product range.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, company representatives and merchandisers.
• Ensure Health & Safety requirements are maintained.Ensure equipment, fixtures and fittings are safe and report any issues.
• Maintain accurate pricing, promotions and ticketing.
• Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
• Ensure ordering and stocktaking are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Support the team to understand and achieve department objectives and goals.

Financial

• Manage, record and report credits and wastage.
• Work towards achieving and exceeding sales, GP and profit targets.
• Monitor sales and identify opportunities for growth.
• Control wage costs and ensure the department is appropriately staffed.
• Manage rosters, holidays and lieu days effectively.
• Maintain strong price perception and ensure customers receive value.

Culture & Team

• Support the wider store and work collaboratively with other departments.
• Promote and demonstrate the store's mission and seven values.
• Create a positive and engaging environment within the Floral Department.
• Encourage teamwork, accountability and a strong customer focus.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous floristry or relevant retail experience.
• Is passionate about flowers, creativity and presentation.
• Has strong organisational and leadership skills.
• Is commercially minded and understands the importance of sales, GP and costs.
• Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Takes pride in delivering high-quality products and displays.
• Is confident working in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Can motivate and support a team.
• Has a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
• Is committed to achieving great results for our customers and our store.
