Flying Squad - Commissioning Engineer

As part of a portfolio of major data center projects across Europe, we are looking for experienced Commissioning Engineers to support on-site start-up and commissioning activities on critical power, cooling and digital systems. Several positions are open across different technical specialties, with long-term assignments of 1 to 2 years and international mobility across the Nordics, Iberia, Germany, France, Italy and the UK.

Position Overview Working closely with local commissioning teams and project managers, you will act as a technical specialist during the most critical stage of the projects: commissioning. We are looking for autonomous, field-oriented profiles able to handle complex and critical interventions, identify the root cause of failures (quality, software or operating conditions) and train end users on the equipment.

Open Specialties

• UPS & Battery Systems (Sweden, France): UPS, battery cabinets, static transfer switches.
• Automatic & Static Transfer Switches (Sweden, Finland): ATS and LV cabinets, transfer switch controllers.
• Low Voltage Systems (Nordics, Spain, Germany): LV switchboards, air circuit breakers, moulded case breakers, protection relays, power meters, Modbus communication.
• Medium Voltage Switchgear (Finland, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Germany): MV switchgear (primary and secondary distribution), MV transformers, protection relays.
• Prefabricated Data Center Modules (Nordics, Spain, Germany): multi-technology profile covering LV, MV, UPS, ATS and cooling.
• Data Center Cooling (Finland, Italy, UK): air- and water-cooled chillers, in-room and in-row units, fan walls, liquid cooling.
• Digital & SCADA / IoT (Sweden, Germany): SCADA and energy management platforms, IoT sensors and gateways, power meters, protection relays, industrial protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform start-up and commissioning of the equipment in your specialty.
• Assess installation quality and operating conditions, and carry out on-site adjustments to reach optimal running conditions.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting (quality, software or operating condition issues).
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance when required.
• Document test results and produce site work reports.
• Work alongside other service engineers and partners during site interventions.
• Train end customers on the basic operation of the equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of commissioning and/or field service experience in your specialty.
• Electrical, electrotechnical or mechanical engineering background (university degree is an advantage; required for UPS, ATS and Cooling profiles).
• Strong hands-on skills, ability to work independently and to propose solutions to technical challenges.
• Experience in data center environments is a strong advantage.
• Strong health & safety mindset and compliance with site safety procedures.
• Willingness to travel internationally (up to 70% of the time).
• Fluent English (B2+ minimum).
• Good command of MS Office, Acrobat, AutoCAD and commissioning software.

Engagement Conditions

• Contractor assignment of 1 to 2 years, delivered on behalf of a leading manufacturer.
• Rotation of 3 weeks on site / 1 week off, hourly rate.
• Mandatory in-class product training of 4 to 6 weeks (in France, and in Italy for cooling) before starting on site.
• Full PPE and tools, plus access to the software and applications needed to work autonomously.
• Valid electrical accreditation, work-at-height certification (cooling), and local site access cards and registrations depending on the country (e.g. ID06, Valtti, BTP, VCA, Limosa/A1).
