Blooming Color is a technology-driven commercial and digital print manufacturer with facilities in Lombard, IL and Louisville, KY. We run some of the most advanced printing equipment in the Midwest, producing everything from brochures and mailers to packaging and high-volume fulfillment for brands across the country, and our Louisville operation runs both offset and digital work.

The Role

We need a folder operator who has run folders before and can set up jobs without someone standing over their shoulder. You'll work on Stahl and Horizon equipment, folding everything from short digital runs to long offset jobs — brochures, inserts, mailers, and more. You'll read the job ticket, match the fold to the proof, and run the job from setup to skid.

This is hands-on production work. You'll be on your feet all day, lifting stacks of paper, adjusting buckle plates and knives, checking for cracking and marking, and keeping an eye on quality through the whole run. You'll work closely with press operators and the bindery crew, so communication matters. If a sheet comes off the press with an issue, we want to hear about it right away — not after you've folded a thousand of them.

What You'll Do

• Set up and run Stahl and Horizon folders independently
• Match folds to the proof — letter, z-fold, gate fold, accordion, and others
• Handle coated and heavy stocks with care to avoid damage
• Monitor quality throughout the run and stop to fix problems before they turn into scrap
• Complete accurate paperwork, count and package finished work, and label skids correctly
• Communicate clearly with the press, bindery, and schedulers
• Clean, oil, and maintain your equipment
• Follow lockout/tagout and keep your area safe and organizedWhat We're Looking For

Experience preferred: You've run folders before, ideally Stahl or Horizon, and you know how to set up folds, troubleshoot registration and creep, and adjust for different stocks. If you don't have folder experience but you have solid bindery or press background and real mechanical aptitude, we're still interested.

Quality focus: You check your work through the whole run, not just at setup. You catch problems early and stop before waste piles up.

Reliability: You show up on time, every day. You can keep a steady pace through long runs and handle occasional overtime when deadlines are tight.

Teamwork: You work well with others, speak up when something's off, and help out on the floor without being asked.

Mechanical mindset: You're comfortable with hand tools, machine adjustments, and learning new equipment.
