Food Service Assistant

Job Summary

Central Kitchen + Bar is hiring a Food Service Assistant to support daily restaurant operations, food preparation, and customer service activities. This role assists kitchen and service staff with preparing orders, maintaining clean work areas, restocking supplies, and providing efficient service to help create a positive dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation and ingredient organization
• Support cooks with assembling and preparing menu items according to instructions
• Help prepare and package food orders accurately
• Assist front-of-house staff with food delivery and service activities
• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and service areas
• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment as needed
• Restock ingredients, beverages, condiments, packaging, and service supplies
• Assist with receiving, inspecting, and organizing food and supply deliveries
• Label, rotate, and store food items according to established procedures
• Help maintain dining areas, service stations, and food preparation surfaces
• Follow food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures
• Communicate order details and customer requests to appropriate team members
• Assist with opening, closing, and general restaurant duties
• Perform additional food service and kitchen support tasks assigned by management

Requirements

• Previous restaurant, kitchen, food service, hospitality, or customer service experience is an asset but not required
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and safe food handling
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Good organizational and attention-to-detail abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads safely

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment and food service procedures
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Strong time management and multitasking abilities

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 41.0 per week
