Footpath Inspector

The Footpath Inspector role involves using our custom designed scooter to inspect footpaths for city councils throughout New Zealand. You will be recording all footpath faults such as cracks, trip hazards and obstructing trees using our Voice Recognition software. The scooter is a Moped class vehicle so does not need a special license to operate; a standard car license is fine.

This opportunity requires a person who is self-managed with an excellent eye for detail, a high-quality work ethic and strong computer skills. Once you have been trained you will be self-managed with full support from our management team. You will be based from home and be required to program your work to meet productivity targets.

Job Requirements to detail in cover letter:

You must live in Auckland.

Travel throughout New Zealand is necessary for this job- you must have the ability to work away from home for periods of up to 2 weeks. All travel and accommodation costs are met by the company.

Please be aware there can be downtime between projects- usually a few weeks, sometimes a few months. So this role could suit a semi-retired person, or someone with other means of financial support.

Also, there are some physical requirements for this role. The scooter is designed for the Japanese Domestic Market so people of a smaller to medium build will be most comfortable on the bike. If you are taller than 180cm and weigh more than 80kgs you won’t be comfortable for extended periods. To see the scooter Google "Honda Gyro Canopy".

An advantage (not an absolute requirement) is that you can provide a vehicle to tow the scooter trailer. If you use your own vehicle a per KM rate is paid for company travel.

You will need

·        Education to at least Year 13, applicants with a tertiary qualification will have an advantage

·        Excellent computer skills, especially with MS Excel

·        Home office with at least Windows 10 and broadband internet

·        Previous experience in asset inspections or the road maintenance industry is a strong advantage but not necessary as full training and support is given.

Once trained, your typical day will be

·        Drive to the area you are inspecting

·        Mount the computer hardware on the scooter and perform a day’s inspections

·        Remove the hardware and drive back to accommodation

·        Charge up the hardware and email the days data to management for quality checks

This job is much more than performing inspections- you will be managing your own work program, performing basic maintenance on your scooter and having input into future hardware and software system development.
