What they need

Experienced Foreman - South Canterbury (Timaru)

Shore Construction has been family owned and operated for over 30 years. We're known for high quality workmanship, integrity and a team culture that actually backs each other up.

We typically promote our foremen from within, so this is a rare opportunity to join our South Canterbury (Timaru) team directly as a Foreman. We're looking for an experienced foreman with a positive attitude and high quality workmanship to join our top notch crew.

We work throughout South Canterbury on bespoke new homes, detailed renovations and commercial design and build projects. Right now we've got a strong lineup of exciting architectural projects underway, with more due to kick off over the coming months and into the new year. It's a great time to join, with plenty of quality work ahead and most of it close to home rather than travelling. We do take on the occasional project further afield but local work is where the bulk of our current pipeline sits.

Our work is both varied and rewarding and we're committed to doing it properly, both for our clients and for our crew.

What you will do

  • Carry out and complete construction tasks to a high standard of workmanship
  • Uphold quality workmanship standards across your assigned projects
  • Read building plans, architectural drawings and construction layouts
  • Coordinate project supplies, resources and contractors to keep projects on time
  • Teach and support junior tradesmen on site
  • Manage on-site health & safety, including documentation and reporting

What we're looking for

  • Proven leadership, someone who can run a crew and a site with confidence

  • Strong communication and listening skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and a genuine passion for quality work

  • Strong technical knowledge

  • A positive, team focused attitude

  • A professional and respectful approach with clients and crew alike

What you'll bring

  • NZ Certificate in Carpentry (or equivalent qualification)
  • At least 8 years of industry experience, including experience leading a site or a crew
  • A full New Zealand driver licence
  • Existing right to work in New Zealand — we're unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role

Pay: Hourly rate based on experience. We pay well for the right people.
