Foreman / Digger Operator

About the role

As Foreman / Digger Operator, you will lead one of our installation teams on site, operating machinery, coordinating with Director for day-to-day work and ensuring each pool installation is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Based from our Rangiora yard, the role will primarily service pool installation projects throughout Canterbury, with travel across the South Island when required. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced operator who enjoys taking ownership of a job from start to finish.

Key responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating the installation team on site
• Liaising with Director to plan daily site activities and allocating work to the crew
• Operating diggers and other heavy machinery
• Managing excavation and site preparation for swimming pool installations
• Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to specification
• Managing site health & safety and ensuring compliance with company procedures
• Coordinating materials, equipment and machinery required for each job
• Communicating with clients, contractors and other trades on site
• Identifying and managing potential site issues before they become problems
• Keeping projects moving and meeting agreed timeframes

About you

• An experienced digger operator with strong practical construction experience
• Confident leading a small team and taking ownership of a site
• Organised, reliable and able to plan ahead
• Safety-focused with a strong understanding of site compliance
• Comfortable working outdoors and in a physically demanding environment
• A confident communicator who can work professionally with clients and contractors
• Able to problem-solve and make good decisions independently
• Class 2 Driver Licence
• Class 4 Driver Licence
• WTR endorsements – Wheels, Tracks and Rollers
