About the Role

Required Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience pathways:

Responsibilities

Ability to perform physically demanding duties, including handling, lifting, transporting, and positioning human remains. Ability to work in environments involving exposure to human remains, biological hazards, and decomposed cadavers. Ability to work assigned shifts and follow established workplace safety procedures. Ability to obtain a valid Pennsylvania driver's license within six months of appointment and maintain it throughout employment. Submission of required educational transcripts and applicable credentials as specified in the official job announcement.

Qualifications

Option 1: Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least one year of experience dissecting human bodies under professional supervision in a morgue or forensic pathology laboratory.

Option 2: College Coursework

• Completion of at least 30 college credits, including coursework in anatomy, biology, forensic science, mortuary science, or pathology.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience deemed acceptable by the City of Philadelphia's Office of Human Resources.
