What they need

About EnergySmart

EnergySmart has been helping New Zealanders create warmer, healthier, more energy-efficient homes since 1997. We’re one of New Zealand’s most established and respected insulation companies, having delivered tens of thousands of insulation retrofits and played a major role in Government-funded programmes.

Today, we have expanded from retrofitting to new build construction, and we are continuing to grow. We’re proud of our reputation, our people and our culture. We’re a team that values doing a great job, looking after our customers and giving our people the opportunity to grow with us.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Foreperson to join our team and take responsibility for leading our insulation installation crews across a range of residential projects.  This is a new role which reflects the growth the Waikato business has achieved over the past 12 months.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who already has leadership or leading-hand experience and is ready to take the next step. You’ll be responsible for keeping teams on track, ensuring work is completed to a high standard, and working closely with customers, site managers, the Branch Administrator and the Branch Manager. You’ll be expected to get stuck in, support your teams on site and carry out insulation installation yourself when required.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating teams to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Checking the quality of completed insulation work and ensuring company standards are met
  • Carrying out regular audits of installation work and providing feedback where required
  • Reading and interpreting building plans and identifying installation requirements
  • Problem-solving on site and finding practical solutions when issues arise
  • Liaising professionally with site managers, builders and other contractors
  • Training and supporting new insulation installers as they develop their skills
  • Providing guidance and support to team members to maintain productivity and quality
  • Assisting with warehouse duties, including operating a forklift
  • Completing insulation installation work yourself when required to support the team
  • Deputising for the Branch Manager in the Branch Managers absence
  • Reporting on site progress, quality and any issues to the Branch Manager
  • Promoting a strong culture of health and safety across the team

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience leading a team, preferably in construction, insulation or a similar environment
  • Communicates well with installers, site managers and customers
  • Is organised and able to manage competing priorities
  • Works well under pressure and leads by example
  • Takes pride in the quality of their work and has a good eye for detail
  • Can read and understand building plans
  • Is confident making decisions and solving problems on site
  • Can provide clear direction, coaching and training to others
  • Has a current forklift licence, or is willing to obtain one
  • Has a strong commitment to health and safety
  • Holds a full driver's licence
  • Willing to undergo a pre-employment police check and drug and alcohol test

What we offer

This is a great opportunity to join an established insulation business and take the next step in your career.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and play an important role in developing the wider installation team, while still being actively involved in the work. We operate nationwide so there is the potential for this position to progress into a Branch Manager role in the future. A competitive salary and company vehicle complete the package.

You could already be a Foreperson or have Leading Hand experience. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in getting the job done right and is ready to take the next step in their career. If this sounds like you, apply today, applications will be screened as they come in.
