Position Summary

Bright Wood is continuously looking for dependable, safety focused individuals to join our production team as Forklift Drivers.

Production Forklift Drivers play an important role in keeping our manufacturing operations moving safely and efficiently. This position is responsible for operating powered industrial equipment to move raw materials, work in process, and finished products throughout production and designated storage areas.

Previous forklift or manufacturing experience is preferred but may not be required for all openings. Bright Wood provides training and requires employees to successfully complete applicable forklift training and authorization before independently operating equipment.

This is an evergreen job posting, which means we accept applications on an ongoing basis for current and future Production Forklift Driver openings. Available departments, schedules, and shifts may vary based on business needs.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities may include:

  • Safely operate forklifts and other authorized material handling equipment
  • Transport raw materials, work in process, and finished products throughout production and storage areas
  • Load, unload, stack, stage, and organize materials as directed
  • Supply production areas with materials to support continuous operations
  • Remove completed products and materials from production areas
  • Perform required pre shift equipment inspections and report equipment concerns or unsafe conditions
  • Follow designated travel routes, pedestrian controls, speed requirements, and other forklift safety procedures
  • Maintain awareness of pedestrians, equipment, and changing conditions within production areas
  • Verify materials and loads are properly positioned and secure before transport
  • Assist with inventory movement and material organization as needed
  • Maintain clean and organized work and travel areas
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
  • Immediately report incidents, near misses, property damage, equipment damage, and safety concerns
  • Communicate effectively with production employees, Leads, Supervisors, and other Forklift Drivers
  • Perform production or material handling duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For

Successful Production Forklift Drivers are individuals who:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety
  • Are dependable and arrive to work on time and ready to work
  • Maintain situational awareness while operating equipment
  • Are comfortable working around pedestrians, production equipment, and other powered industrial equipment
  • Can follow established operating procedures and safety requirements
  • Can communicate effectively with coworkers and leadership
  • Are able to work independently while supporting the needs of the production team
  • Are willing to learn and successfully complete required forklift training
  • Understand that safe operation takes priority over speed or production demands

Previous forklift, warehouse, lumber, wood products, or manufacturing experience is preferred but not required for all positions.

Forklift Training and Authorization

Employees must successfully complete Bright Wood's required powered industrial truck training and evaluation before independently operating a forklift.

Forklift authorization is equipment and workplace specific. Previous forklift experience or certification does not automatically authorize an employee to operate Bright Wood equipment.

Employees are expected to consistently demonstrate safe operating practices. Unsafe operation of powered industrial equipment may result in removal of operating privileges and corrective action consistent with company policy.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Production Forklift Driver positions may require employees to:

  • Sit or stand for extended periods
  • Frequently enter and exit powered industrial equipment
  • Bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements
  • Lift and move materials consistent with the requirements of the assigned position
  • Work around moving machinery, forklifts, pedestrians, and production equipment
  • Work in an environment that may include noise, dust, temperature changes, and other conditions typical of a wood products manufacturing facility
  • Work indoors and outdoors depending on the assigned area
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment

Reasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals with disabilities in accordance with applicable law.

Schedule

Bright Wood operates multiple shifts and schedules. Available schedules will depend on current production needs and openings. Applicants may be considered for current or future opportunities based on their availability, qualifications, and business needs.
