Forklift Operator

LeMoyen, LLC is a growing industrial wood products manufacturer serving the Gulf South. Our operation depends on the safe and efficient movement of logs and other heavy wood materials from receiving and the log yard into production.

Position Overview

LeMoyen is seeking an experienced Forklift Operator/Processor to safely operate industrial equipment to move logs, lumber, pallets, and supplies throughout the sawmill. This position supports production, shipping, receiving, and inventory operations while maintaining a safe and organized work area.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts to load, unload, stack, and transport lumber and other materials.
• Supply production areas with materials and remove finished products and waste.
• Load and unload trucks according to shipping documents and load requirements.
• Inspect lumber loads for stability and secure materials before transport.
• Perform and document pre-shift equipment inspections.
• Report mechanical problems, damaged materials, and safety hazards promptly.
• Follow designated traffic routes, load limits, and site safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate inventory, production, and shipping records as required.
• Keep work areas, aisles, loading zones, and equipment clean and orderly.
• Assist with general sawmill duties during downtime.
• Wear required personal protective equipment and follow lockout/tagout and emergency procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous forklift or heavy industrial equipment experience preferred.
• Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification after hire.
• Experience in a sawmill, lumber yard, warehouse, or manufacturing environment is an asset.
• Ability to judge load size, weight, clearance, and stability.
• Basic reading, math, and documentation skills.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, and outdoor conditions as needed.

Physical and Work Requirements

• Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, and use hand and foot controls.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Work around moving machinery, wood dust, noise, vibration, uneven surfaces, and changing temperatures.
• Maintain alertness and situational awareness in active production and loading areas.
• Use required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, high-visibility clothing, gloves, and safety-toe footwear.
