What they need

AMG Contracting is a residential / commercial / industrial] concrete contractor looking for two experienced formwork carpenters who are ready to step up and lead a crew. These are hands-on leadership roles: you'll be building forms alongside your team while keeping the work on schedule, on layout, and safe.

If you know forming systems inside and out, can read a drawing without second-guessing yourself, and people follow your lead on site, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lay out, build, set, brace, strip, and clean formwork for footings, walls, columns, slabs, and stairs
  • Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings, shop drawings, and forming plans
  • Lead a crew of [3–5] workers: assign daily tasks, set the pace, and check quality
  • Verify layout, elevations, dimensions, and plumb before every pour
  • Coordinate with the site superintendent, rebar crews, and concrete finishers
  • Make sure forms are properly braced and rated for the pour
  • Enforce safety standards on site and run daily toolbox talks / hazard assessments
  • Track material and equipment needs and flag shortages before they stop the work

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of hands-on formwork experience in concrete construction
  • Proven ability to read blueprints and structural drawings accurately
  • Leadership experience — lead hand, foreman, or crew lead
  • Experience with forming systems such as [Peri / Doka / EFCO / Aluma / Symons / job-built plywood forms]
  • Strong knowledge of layout tools: laser level, transit, total station, tape and string line
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a crew and with site management
  • Valid [Fall Protection, WHMIS, CSTS-2020, Standard First Aid] tickets — or willingness to obtain
  • Own steel-toed boots and basic hand tools
  • Reliable transportation to job sites
  • Able to lift up to [50 lbs] and work outdoors year-round

Nice to have: Journeyman Carpenter certification, Confined Space, Aerial Work Platform, forklift/telehandler ticket, [Class 5] driver's licence, ICF experience,

What We Offer

  • Competitive wages paid weekly / bi-weekly
  • Steady, year-round work
  • Overtime opportunities
  • Health and dental benefits
  • [RRSP matching / tool allowance / boot allowance]
  • Room to grow into a foreman or superintendent role
  • A crew that shows up and takes pride in the work
