The Opportunity

Tempest Vane Partners is partnering with a leading global hedge fund to hire an AI Engineer to work at the intersection of AI, software engineering and investment management.

You'll work directly with investment professionals and technical teams to identify opportunities for AI adoption, develop innovative solutions and automate workflows that deliver tangible business value.

This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, working closely with end users and taking ideas from concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with investment teams to identify and implement high-value AI use cases.
• Build and deploy AI-powered applications, tools and automated workflows.
• Integrate data sources, APIs and internal systems to support AI solutions.
• Rapidly prototype, test and refine solutions based on user feedback.
• Ensure applications are reliable, scalable, secure and production-ready.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to improve productivity.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering skills, ideally with Python.
• Experience building applications and integrating APIs and data sources.
• Practical exposure to AI/LLMs and deploying solutions into production.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a delivery-focused mindset.
• Ability to work directly with stakeholders and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

• LLMs, AI agents, RAG and AI orchestration frameworks.
• Cloud infrastructure, containers and production deployment.
• Financial markets, investment management or other data-intensive environments.
