Forward Deployed Engineer (60L, 2-5 Years)

About the role

We’re looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer who can take complex customer problems and turn them into working, production-grade solutions.

This is a highly technical, customer-facing role. You’ll work directly with engineering teams and business stakeholders at customers to understand their workflows, identify where our technology can create value, and then build and deploy the solution.

You won’t just configure software or hand requirements back to an engineering team. You’ll write code, design integrations, debug production issues, make architecture decisions, and work closely with the core product and engineering teams to turn repeated customer needs into reusable product capabilities.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys the ambiguity of early-stage products and wants to work at the intersection of engineering, product, and customers .

What you'll own

• Customer deployments: Own technical implementations from initial discovery through production deployment and adoption.
• Solution design: Understand customer systems, data, workflows, and constraints and design the right technical architecture around them.
• Hands-on engineering: Write production-quality code to build integrations, APIs, workflows, data pipelines, internal tools, and customer-specific capabilities.
• AI application development: Build and deploy AI-powered workflows using LLMs, retrieval systems, agents, tool calling, structured outputs, and model APIs where relevant.
• Integrations: Connect the product with customer infrastructure, databases, APIs, cloud environments, and enterprise systems.
• Production debugging: Diagnose issues across application code, APIs, infrastructure, data, and model behavior.
• Technical discovery: Work directly with customer engineering and product teams to translate loosely defined business problems into clear technical requirements.
• Architecture decisions: Make pragmatic trade-offs across speed, scalability, security, reliability, and customization.
• Product feedback: Identify patterns across deployments and work with the core engineering team to turn repeated implementation work into reusable product capabilities.
• End-to-end ownership: Stay accountable for whether the solution actually works for the customer—not just whether the code was shipped.

You'll be a great fit if

• 2–5 years of software engineering experience , ideally in backend, full-stack, platform, infrastructure, applied AI, or customer-facing engineering roles.
• Strong programming ability in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Go , or a comparable language.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs, webhooks, databases, authentication systems, and third-party integrations .
• Good understanding of backend engineering fundamentals, including databases, distributed systems, networking, queues, caching, and API design.
• Experience deploying applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure and working with modern production infrastructure.
• Ability to independently take an ambiguous problem from “we need to solve this” → architecture → implementation → production .
• Strong debugging skills and comfort working across unfamiliar codebases and systems.
• Comfortable speaking directly with customers, including engineers, product leaders, and technical decision-makers.
• Strong written and verbal communication—you can explain technical trade-offs without hiding behind jargon.
