Forward Deployed Engineer

Our client is a well funded, AI native scale up headquartered in Berlin, building agentic systems that change how established businesses operate. Rather than building technology in isolation, they deploy it directly into live operational environments, pairing deep domain expertise with software designed from the ground up for AI.

The Role

• As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will sit at the meeting point of engineering, product and operations, working from the Berlin headquarters.
• You will embed with the operational teams who use the platform, learn exactly how they work, spot where technology and automation can make the biggest difference, and then build it.
• There are no abstract specs handed down from above. You will work in short, direct feedback loops with the people using your software: map the workflow, ship an MVP quickly, put it into production and keep improving it based on how it performs in the real world.
• This is a role for someone who is equal parts engineer and product thinker, and completely hands on. What you build will define how agentic systems are rolled out across the business.

What You'll Work On

• Spend time alongside users and operational teams to unpick complex workflows and pinpoint where software and AI will have the greatest impact.
• Turn real operational problems into working MVPs within days, put them in front of users and refine them based on what you learn.
• Create software, internal tools, integrations, automations and AI powered workflows that solve genuine problems across the business.
• Take solutions well beyond the prototype stage and deploy them into live environments that teams rely on every day.
• Turn proven solutions into robust, repeatable systems that can be rolled out across teams and customers.
• Partner with founders, engineers, operators and domain experts to carry projects from first discovery all the way to implementation.

Your Profile

• Experinced shipping software, automations or AI enabled products that real users depend on, and you are at home working with APIs, databases, integrations and modern development tooling.
• You take ownership. You don't wait for perfect requirements. You take an ambiguous problem, work out what matters most and drive it from discovery to production.
• You are comfortable building LLMs, agents or AI workflows, and you understand where AI adds genuine value and where a human needs to stay in the loop.
• You earn trust with users. You explain things clearly to technical and non technical audiences alike, and you thrive in messy environments with imperfect data, legacy systems and shifting priorities.
• You are comfortable communicating in both German and English as you will work directly with German speaking users and stakeholders.
