Forward Deployed Engineer

Day one, 11:00: client kickoff.

That was the first meeting for the newest engineer on our team. Three weeks later, her code had found 161 employments that had ended on paper but were still active in the client's system. That's the job.

ABOUT AWOLVE

Awolve is a fast-growing AI company from Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki. We build AI systems that run in production for mid-market B2B companies across the Nordics, whatever their industry. Our clients want it to work on Monday, not in a PowerPoint.

We are also AI-native in how we run the company. Every client, decision and spec lives in Cortex, the operating system we built for ourselves, and every engineer works in it with an AI partner that already knows the full context. Every meeting is recorded and you can ask it questions out loud. Agents run work around the clock. The AI writes almost all the code; you decide what gets built.

THE ROLE

As a Forward Deployed Engineer you own one main client at a time, from the first user interview to keeping the system running after go-live. This autumn our FDEs:

• took AI customer service live in Sweden and Norway in the same week

• flew to Oslo and Bergen to train the coordinators using what they'd built

• built a fake version of a client's ERP so the AI could be tested without touching the real one

• kept gender and age out of an AI's candidate scoring

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Interview and observe the people who actually do the work, from the front line to the management team, and read the data before deciding what to build

• Write the specs (requirements, design, plan) that the client signs off on and the AI agent builds against

• Steer AI coding agents, review what they produce fast and critically, and decide what ships

• Own architecture and integrations: Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365, client APIs and data platforms

• Deploy and run on Azure: monitoring, testing, hypercare

• Run demos, workshops, user testing and trainings, on site in Sweden and Norway

• Help build Awolve itself: tools, methods and onboarding the next hire

Roughly: 40% building and running production systems, 20% with clients, 15% specs and planning, 15% testing and pilots, 10% making Awolve better.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education

• A degree in computer science, engineering or another quantitative field, or a track record that makes it irrelevant

• New graduates are welcome. One of our four FDEs came straight from university

Technical

• Software development experience, preferably TypeScript. You read code quickly across stacks, including code an agent wrote an hour ago

• You already build with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) as your main tool, and have opinions on when to trust them

• Experience with LLM-based systems: tool use, orchestration, and evaluation that catches the AI being confidently wrong

• Cloud experience, ideally Azure: deploying, running and observing services in production

• Sense for system design, data flows and UX, and the ability to explain the trade-offs

Personal

• You like people, and real users, not just stakeholders

• You'd rather say "that's not my expertise" than bluff, and rather say no than ship the wrong thing

• Curious and pragmatic. You ask one more question than everyone else, and you ship what works over what impresses

• Comfortable with pace and ambiguity. You'll be trusted with more than you expect, early

• Fluent in Swedish, Norwegian or Finnish, and English. Our clients work in their own language, so this is a must
