Position Summary:

Heartland Dental is seeking a motivated engineer with a proven track record in IT infrastructure and a passion for technology to join our IT Infrastructure Foundational Platforms team as a Foundational Platforms Engineer II. This role demands a deeper technical expertise than an entry-level position and involves significant collaboration with App/Dev, DevOps, Networking, Security, and Help Desk teams to enhance our IT infrastructure and services.

To give you an idea of the team structure, you will work on the IT Infrastructure Foundational Platforms team, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Platform Engineering. This role partners closely with Application Development, DevOps, Networking, Security, Help Desk, and other technology teams to support stable and effective infrastructure services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, configure, and manage IT infrastructure solutions, optimizing performance and ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Participates in implementation and design of complex IT infrastructure projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals and best practices.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution across IT infrastructure, acting as a point of escalation for complex issues.
• Manages one or more specific IT technologies, serving as a technical specialist and providing troubleshooting support and strategic solutions to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Act as a backup to one or more subject matter experts on one or more designated IT infrastructure services and systems.
• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and participate in troubleshooting and resolution, escalating complex problems to higher-level engineers.
• Document and update system configurations and standard operating procedures.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending improvements to processes and technologies to enhance IT infrastructure.
• Manage and respond to service request and incident tickets.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, with 3-5 years of relevant experience in system engineering or a similar role.
• 1+ years of experience in a hybrid (on-prem / cloud) infrastructure environment.
• Solid knowledge of IT infrastructure components and their configuration, including servers, storage, and cloud technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver infrastructure project components, work collaboratively across IT teams, and communicate effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in a hybrid (on-prem / cloud) infrastructure environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects.
• Prior experience in an ITIL, Agile, or similar framework-based IT environment.
• Basic Infrastructure focused professional certifications (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, M365, cloud technologies, etc.).
