About us
e-TRNL Energy is building battery cells around a question the industry has largely stopped asking: does cost really have to be traded off against safety and charging speed?
We think the answer sits in the architecture of the cell rather than in its chemistry. So we are building a chemistry-agnostic cell architecture, along with the process and the machines that make it. Manufacturing is part of the design here, not something we work out afterwards.
The company was founded by Apoorv Shaligram and Dr Uttam Sen, who have spent their careers in batteries and EVs.
About the role
Most weeks there is one problem that matters more than the others and doesn't sit with any one team. The Founder's Office picks it up.
You will work directly with Apoorv on whatever that problem happens to be a market question, a partnership, a board deck, an event, a hiring push, or a process that has quietly stopped working. But to be clear, this wouldn't venture into the financial or fund raising parts of the job. The subject changes month to month, The pattern doesn't: understand the problem properly, find the facts, write down what you think we should do, then stay with it until it is done.
It suits someone who doesn't mind a job description that keeps moving, and who would rather finish something than hand it on.
What you'll do
Take a problem from "what do we do about this?" to a plan, and then to done.
Write the decks, memos and notes that go to investors, partners and the team.
Move between technology, business, operations, partnerships and brand, sometimes in the same week.
Help run founder-led meetings, events and outside conversations
the preparation, the day itself, and the follow-up.
Notice what is falling through the gaps, and pick it up.
What we're looking for
An MBA or PGDM with an engineering or technology background, and real interest in startups and how companies get built.
Clear writing, and the confidence to hold your own in a room with people more senior than you.
Something you have built or run yourself, start to finish. It doesn't have to have worked.
Comfort with an unclear problem you come back with a view, not a list of questions.
Useful, but not required
Time in a startup, in consulting, or in strategy or business operations.
Some exposure to deep tech, energy, batteries or climate.
Experience working closely with founders or senior leadership.
Experience with brand, events or partnerships.
Why this might be for you
You will see the whole company the lab, the line, the customers, the investors and you will be in the room for decisions that most people at your stage only read about later.
Worth saying what it isn't: this is not a pure strategy job. A good part of it is following up, chasing, and doing the unglamorous work that turns a decision into something that actually happened. If that reads as a reason not to apply, it probably is. If it doesn't, we would like to hear from you.
Other offers great for you!
