About Biomemory

Global data creation is exploding. Only 30% of the world's data is durably stored. Data centers already consume around 2% of global electricity. As volumes double every few years, the silicon-based storage model is reaching structural limits.

Biomemory is a global pioneer in the DNA data storage market, developing IT-friendly DNA Data Storage and cybersecurity solutions engineered for data center environments — combining biosecure DNA media, industrialized end-to-end write/store/read processes, and interoperable IT interfaces.

Headquartered in Paris, with an office in Boston, Biomemory is now opening the North American market, set to become our largest addressable market worldwide.

Join us in rewriting the future of data storage! 🧬

About the role

Your mission 🚀

As our Founding Account Executive, you will establish Biomemory's commercial presence across the US and Canada. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role: you will personally source, qualify, and close our first strategic accounts, building the business from the ground up.

Main Responsibilities

  • Own the US & Canada go-to-market strategy from the ground up — target segments, positioning, and the sales playbook for a novel technology category.

  • Personally prospect, develop, and close the first flagship accounts through a direct, end-user approach, across three priority verticals: government & defense, tier-2 cloud service providers (CSPs) with pan-regional or global reach, and, in a second phase, financial services (FSI).

  • Engage decision-makers who own budget and can allocate resources to evaluate DNA data storage, typically heads of innovation and heads of labs within large organizations.

  • Develop government & defense opportunities, primarily through direct engagement, and through systems integrators where the procurement pathway requires it, in strict compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Navigate complex, technical, multi-stakeholder deals — POCs, pilots, design wins, reference logos.

  • Act as the voice of the US & Canada customer to our product and R&D teams; represent Biomemory at events, with partners, and with investors.

  • Work in close coordination with our Senior Director, Sales and our existing US-based contacts.

About you

Profile

A genuine self-starter: a proven, senior hunter who thrives on building a business from scratch, without an existing playbook.

What we are looking for

  • Strong track record of personally sourcing and closing deals as an individual contributor.

  • Meaningful B2B enterprise sales experience, ideally including exposure to a founding-seller or early-stage commercial role.

  • Track record selling complex, technical, or infrastructure products (data storage, cloud/data-center infrastructure, cybersecurity, or adjacent deeptech/hardware).

  • Demonstrated ability to close large deals with long sales cycles.

  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity, business continuity, data regulation and compliance, and data storage.

  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and no playbook.

  • Based in the United States, ideally on the East Coast or in the Midwest, to cover both the US and Canadian markets.

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency (Green Card) is required to engage directly with government & defense accounts, in compliance with ITAR/export-control regulations.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience taking a European or foreign technology company into the US & Canada market.

  • Prior sales management experience.

  • Scientific or technical background enabling fluent conversations with highly technical buyers.

  • Familiarity with government and defense procurement: SAM.gov registration, GSA Schedule contracts, FAR/DFARS basics, and selling both direct-to-agency and through systems integrators (e.g., Booz Allen, Leidos, SAIC, General Dynamics IT).

  • Familiarity with cloud service provider procurement (vendor onboarding, RFI/RFP cycles, and technical vendor-qualification processes).

  • Working knowledge of data center design and operations standards (e.g., Uptime Institute tiering, TIA-942, ASHRAE thermal guidelines) sufficient to speak credibly with facilities and infrastructure engineering stakeholders, not just IT buyers.

  • Awareness of long-term digital preservation and records-retention requirements (NARA retention schedules, the OAIS/ISO 14721 reference model) and the competitive landscape of archival media (LTO tape, optical, cold cloud storage).

  • An existing network among decision-makers at cloud service providers, government agencies, defense primes, national labs, or financial institutions.

Good to know

- Location: US-based role with regular travel to meet customers and partners.

  • A founding commercial role with outsized ownership and visibility at the executive level.

  • The chance to build a market for a genuinely category-defining deeptech.

  • Direct partnership with a world-class scientific and engineering team.

Compensation: Competitive compensation package: base salary of $150,000 – $185,000, plus variable compensation (sales commissions) and stock options.

- Time off: 15 days of PTO, 5 sick days, plus paid holidays.

- Retirement: 401(k) with up to 4% matching and immediate vesting.

- Healthcare: medical (Blue Cross Blue Shield, with Biomemory covering up to 80% of the premium), dental and vision coverage.

About the recruitment process

- Intro call with our Talent Acquisition team (30 min).

- Sales interviews with our Senior Director, Sales and our Chief Customer Officer (45 min each, or combined into one interview).

- Case study (optional): 90-day go-to-market plan for one of our priority verticals (1 hour).

- Final interview with our CEO, including a culture-fit discussion.

Equal Opportunity Employer

All qualified applicants will receive consideration regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
