I'm supporting a startup business focused on semiconductors.

This is an opportunity to join at founding-team stage, influence the hardware architecture and contribute to getting groundbreaking technology into real silicon.

What you'll be doing

• Designing novel ASIC and AI accelerator architectures for LLM inference.
• Exploring 1-bit, 2-bit, binary and ternary quantisation techniques.
• Developing efficient compute structures, lookup-table implementations and model-specific hardware.
• Working across chip architecture, RTL design, memory systems and hardware optimisation.
• Exploring hardware/software co-design to improve inference performance and energy efficiency.
• Contributing to the journey from architectural research and prototyping through to tapeout.

What we're looking for

• Experience in ASIC design, digital IC design, AI accelerators or computer architecture.
• Ideally, previous involvement in a successful silicon tapeout.
• Knowledge of low-precision arithmetic, quantisation or efficient neural-network inference.
• Experience with Verilog, SystemVerilog, RTL development or related hardware design tools.
• An understanding of hardware trade-offs involving throughput, latency, power, area and memory.
• A strong interest in novel approaches to implementing LLMs in silicon.

Especially interesting:

• Engineers who have designed dedicated LLM or neural-network accelerators.
• Researchers who have published work on low-bit neural networks, quantised LLMs or AI hardware.
• Candidates who can connect ML research with practical silicon implementation.
• Exceptional graduates or early-career researchers with highly relevant projects, publications or FPGA/ASIC experience.
