About the Role

People Hive HR is supporting one of our clients in the recruitment of a Founding AI/ML Engineer for an early-stage, well-funded, YC-backed technology company.

You’ll help build a next-generation AI platform working with large-scale video, audio and text datasets, with ownership across architecture, data flows and production deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build core AI/ML platform infrastructure
• Develop backend systems and scalable data pipelines
• Work with LLMs, VLMs and retrieval systems
• Design distributed, production-grade systems
• Own development from architecture through production deployment
• Work closely with a small, high-impact engineering team

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years professional software engineering and/or ML experience
• Strong hands-on experience with LLMs, VLMs or retrieval systems
• Proven experience building backend systems and data pipelines
• Experience deploying production-grade systems
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable infrastructure
• Ability to independently own and ship products end-to-end in a fast-paced startup environment

Experience with high-security/clearance-level projects or previous founding/early-stage startup experience is an advantage.
