Founding Engineer

Berkley Hunt is partnering with an early-stage AI startup building agentic software products from the ground up. They're looking for a Founding Full-Stack Engineer (Backend-Leaning) to join a small, high-calibre team working directly with the founders to shape both the product and technical direction of the company.

Backed by high profile VCs, alongside operators and investors from leading technology companies, the team is already working with paying customers and moving quickly toward the next stage of growth. This is a genuine 0-1 engineering role with high ownership, fast iteration, and the opportunity to have a major impact on both the product and company trajectory.

What You'll Do

• Build and ship full-stack product features from concept through production
• Work directly with the founders on product and technical decisions
• Design and maintain backend systems, infrastructure, and integrations
• Collaborate on AI-driven workflows and product experiences
• Help shape engineering culture and technical direction from an early stage
• Move quickly and pragmatically in a fast-moving startup environment

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally within startup environments
• Strong full-stack engineering experience with a backend lean, building and shipping products end-to-end
• Experience with modern backend and frontend frameworks
• Experience with GCP or AWS and cloud infrastructure
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and solving problems without perfect requirements
• Self-starter who takes ownership and gets things done
• Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
• Background from a top-ranked US university in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline preferred
