Founding Engineer

An early-stage AI startup combining LLMs with algorithmic and optimisation techniques to power better decision-making is looking for a Founding Engineer.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on engineer who builds the core product from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Own product engineering end-to-end: architecture, backend, frontend and cloud infrastructure
• Build the APIs and services connecting the LLM layer, solvers and knowledge library
• Take features from 0→1 and ship them to production
• Partner with AI researchers to turn prototypes into reliable product features
• Design systems for asynchronous, long-running, compute-intensive workloads
• Set engineering standards (testing, CI/CD, code review) for future hires

Requirements

• 5–8 years of software engineering experience (or equivalent), with a CS or related degree
• Strong backend skills in Python plus solid REST API design
• Experience with cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure), containers, CI/CD and monitoring
• Practical frontend experience
• Track record of taking products from early stage to production, ideally as an early or sole engineer
• Comfort with ambiguity and strong technical judgment
• Bonus: experience with LLM APIs, agents or AI workflows
