Founding Engineer / Software Engineer

Background

We are building an AI-native software company focused on compliance and workflow infrastructure for U.S.-listed public companies. The company is currently being incubated through ORY, the technology incubation arm of Ortoli Rosenstadt Ye, an affiliate of New York-headquartered Ortoli Rosenstadt LLP, a boutique law firm focused on U.S. capital markets transactions, including Nasdaq and NYSE listings, securities offerings, and public company compliance. The platform helps public companies manage SEC reporting, Nasdaq and NYSE compliance, corporate governance, and securities transactions, and coordinate the work across management teams and external advisors. Our goal is to reimagine traditional and fragmented compliance processes through a centralized AI-native compliance platform. The business draws on our founders' deep expertise advising public companies and market participants, while being built as a standalone, scalable technology company rather than an internal law firm tool.

Job scope

You will be our founding engineer, working directly with the founders. We are currently working on a minimum viable product with a vendor, and are looking to build an in house full time engineering team concurrently. You will take ownership of the technical direction of the platform as we bring development in house, and this will be a highly hands on role. As the founding engineer, you will also play a significant role in building the engineering team as we grow. The platform will go live from day one with clients onboarded and live matters being handled. You will work alongside experienced securities lawyers who bring the domain knowledge the product is built on.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and end to end development of our web platform
• Work with our vendor on the MVP, review their code and lead the transition in house
• Integrate LLMs (APIs, MCPs, tool use, retrieval) into chat and report workflows
• Manage deployment, cloud hosting, security and data pipelines
• Shape the product with the founders and lawyers

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
• 3 to 6 years of software engineering experience
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and Python
• Demonstrated experience with LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, agent orchestration, MCP, evaluation methods
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, in particular Google Cloud Platform
• Comfortable working independently and making technical decisions
• Preferred: product or startup experience, or an interest in law or finance
