Build the Beginning. Change a Life. Leave a Legacy.
Youth RISE Foundation is establishing its presence in , and we are searching for a visionary leader to become the Founding Executive Director of the San Francisco office.
This is not a position where you will simply step into an established operation.
You will build it.
You will have the extraordinary opportunity to take a national mission and bring it to life in San Francisco—building relationships, creating programs, assembling a team, developing partnerships, and opening doors for young people who deserve the opportunity to discover what they are capable of becoming.
We are looking for someone who sees leadership as more than a title.
Someone who believes that every young person deserves someone in their corner.
Someone who can walk into a room with a university president, foundation leader, corporate executive, community organizer, or young student and make them believe in what is possible.
THE ROLE
The Founding Executive Director will serve as the senior executive leader of Youth RISE Foundation's San Francisco office.
You will be responsible for turning vision into action and establishing Youth RISE as a trusted and impactful organization within the San Francisco community.
You will:
- Establish and launch the San Francisco office
- Develop and execute a comprehensive San Francisco strategy
- Recruit and lead the initial office leadership team
- Build relationships with universities, schools, nonprofits, corporations, foundations, civic organizations, and community leaders
- Develop strategic partnerships that expand opportunities for young people
- Establish and expand Youth RISE university chapters and community programming
- Oversee local youth development, mentorship, education, leadership, and career initiatives
- Identify and cultivate philanthropic and grant opportunities
- Oversee the San Francisco office budget and ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources
- Represent Youth RISE Foundation throughout the San Francisco community
- Build a culture of excellence, compassion, accountability, and service
- Establish measurable goals and evaluate the impact of programs
- Recruit, mentor, and develop future leaders
- Work closely with the National CEO and National Executive Leadership Team
- Ensure the San Francisco office operates in alignment with Youth RISE Foundation's mission, values, policies, and national strategy
YOUR FOUNDING TEAM
The Founding Executive Director will initially work with a core leadership team including:
Deputy Director of Programs
Leading program development, youth services, university chapters, mentorship, and community initiatives.
Grants & Finance Officer
Supporting grant development and administration, financial management, grant budgets, reporting, and fiscal accountability.
Additional positions will be developed as the San Francisco office grows.
WHO YOU ARE
You are a builder.
You know how to take an idea and turn it into something real.
You can create structure where there is none, inspire people to believe in a vision, and build relationships that turn possibilities into opportunities.
You may come from nonprofit leadership, higher education, philanthropy, government, healthcare, workforce development, community development, corporate social responsibility, or another mission-driven environment.
We value demonstrated leadership and impact over a particular career path.
Strong candidates will bring:
- Significant leadership and management experience
- Strategic and operational leadership ability
- Experience managing people, programs, budgets, or organizations
- Strong community and relationship-building skills
- Experience with fundraising, grants, philanthropy, or strategic partnerships
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- A demonstrated commitment to youth development, education, leadership, or community advancement
- The ability to lead with both compassion and accountability
- Entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to build from the ground up
A bachelor's degree is preferred. Advanced degrees, professional credentials, and equivalent professional or lived experience are welcome.
But qualifications aren't the whole story.
We want to know why you care.
Because this work is about more than programs.
It's about the student who doesn't know how they're going to afford college.
The young person who has never had a mentor.
The first-generation student trying to navigate a world that wasn't designed to explain itself.
The young adult with extraordinary potential who simply needs someone to say:
“I see you. I believe in you. Let's figure this out together.”
That is the work.

As the founding leader, you won't inherit a finished organization.
You'll create the foundation for one.

Building a legacy.
Years from now, you should be able to look back and say:
“I was there when Youth RISE San Francisco began.”COMPENSATION
Potential Salary: $140,000–$160,000 per year
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic market, and organizational budget.
The position may also be eligible for organizational benefits and professional development opportunities, subject to applicable Foundation policies and benefit plans.
