Founding Machine Learning Research Scientists/Engineers (AI 4 Science)

🚀 We're hiring: Machine Learning Research Engineers & Scientists | AI for Science | London

Generative is thrilled to be partnering with one of Europe's most exciting AI-native startups, building an autonomous AI platform to fundamentally reinvent how new materials are discovered.

Rather than relying on simulations alone, the company is combining frontier machine learning with a high-throughput experimental laboratory to create a closed-loop discovery platform : AI proposes new materials, experiments validate them, and real-world results continuously improve the models.

Backed by $60M from leading global investors , the company has assembled an exceptional team spanning AI, physics, materials science and engineering. As it scales its research organisation, we're looking to connect with outstanding ML researchers and engineers across two areas:

1. Generative Modelling

Researchers and engineers with hands-on experience building and training generative models at scale, including diffusion models, flow matching and autoregressive architectures. Experience in materials science, molecular generation or protein design is a bonus, but deep technical expertise in generative modelling and large-scale training matters most.

2. Discovery Loops & Optimisation

Researchers working on the algorithms that intelligently search complex design spaces. Relevant experience includes LLM-driven program or agent search (AlphaEvolve/FunSearch-style approaches), evolutionary computation, Bayesian optimisation, active learning or reinforcement learning for design. Experience building closed-loop discovery systems in drug discovery, protein engineering or other scientific domains is also highly relevant.
