Compensation: $175,000-$225,000 + Meaningful Equity (1%+)

We're partnering with a venture-backed AI startup that is transforming how consumer brands operate and grow. The company is building an AI-powered platform designed to act as an operational layer across the entire business, helping brands identify what truly drives revenue, eliminate inefficiencies, and automate critical decision-making.

Having already achieved strong early customer traction and significant measurable impact for clients, the business is experiencing rapid growth and is now looking to hire its second engineering leader to help scale both the platform and the company.

This is a rare opportunity to join at a foundational stage, work directly with the founding team, and play a major role in shaping product direction, engineering culture, and technical architecture.

The Role

As a Founding Senior Engineer, you'll serve as a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing and building the core systems powering the platform. You'll work across backend infrastructure, data systems, AI-enabled automation, integrations, and product development.

This is a player-coach position ideal for someone who still loves writing code every day while helping establish engineering best practices and mentoring future hires.

What You'll Be Working On

• Building scalable data infrastructure capable of tracking and analyzing millions of customer and business events
• Designing systems that connect actions, outcomes, and commercial performance across customer lifecycles
• Developing agentic AI workflows that can evaluate business performance, recommend optimizations, and execute actions autonomously
• Owning backend architecture, APIs, infrastructure, and product functionality from concept to production
• Building and maintaining integrations with major commerce, marketing, and advertising platforms
• Scaling systems to support a rapidly growing customer base
• Collaborating closely with founders on product strategy and technical roadmap
• Helping establish the engineering culture, development processes, and technical standards as the company grows

What We're Looking For (Required)

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong full-stack development background, with particular strength in backend systems and infrastructure
• Experience building and shipping production-grade products in fast-paced startup environments
• Proven ability to own projects from architecture through deployment and maintenance
• Strong proficiency with TypeScript and/or Python
• Experience working with APIs, integrations, and distributed systems
• Ability to operate independently with high ownership and urgency

Nice to Have

• Experience building AI/LLM-powered products and workflows
• Experience with data engineering, event-driven systems, or analytics platforms
• Ecommerce, growth technology, or marketing technology experience
• Familiarity with advertising platform APIs and marketing automation systems
• Previous experience as an early-stage or founding engineer
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
