Foundry Supervisor - Santej

Strategic Role

• Reduce rejection, rework, grinding losses, material handling losses and unnecessary processing time.
• Analyse recurring casting defects and work with Quality and Production teams to identify root causes and preventive actions.
• Optimize utilization of manpower, machines, equipment and production resources.
• Establish and monitor departmental targets for productivity, yield, rejection, cycle time and equipment utilization.
• Drive continuous improvement, 5S, Kaizen and waste-reduction initiatives in the post-pouring/fettling area.
• Support implementation and improvement of SOPs, process standards, quality standards and safety procedures.
• Identify potential operational risks and implement preventive measures to ensure safe and stable production.
• Support line manager in production & manpower planning, equipment requirements and process improvement.
• Contribute to achieving organizational objectives related to quality, cost, delivery and productivity (QCDP).

Operational Role

Production Operations

• Supervise shakeout and knockout operations after pouring.
• Ensure adequate cooling and solidification time before casting handling.
• Monitor and control fettling, riser cutting, runner removal, grinding and cleaning operations.
• Coordinate with Melting, Pouring, Quality and Maintenance teams to improve the overall foundry process flow.
• Ensure proper operation of shot-blasting and cleaning equipment.
• Allocate manpower and machines according to daily production requirements.
• Monitor production output, cycle time, productivity and casting flow.

Quality Control

• Monitor castings for blowholes, sand inclusion, misrun/cold shut, shrinkage, cracks, mismatch, scabs and surface defects.
• Coordinate with Quality for inspection and disposition of defective castings.
• Ensure proper segregation and identification of OK, rework and rejected castings.
• Maintain casting and batch traceability.
• Monitor rejection and rework data and communicate abnormalities to the concerned departments.

Manpower & Shop-Floor Management

• Allocate operators and helpers to different workstations.
• Ensure operators follow SOPs, work instructions and standard operating practices.
• Maintain discipline and effective communication within the shift/team.

Maintenance Coordination

• Report machine and equipment breakdowns immediately.
• Coordinate with Maintenance for breakdown rectification and preventive maintenance.
• Monitor the condition of grinders, shot-blasting machines, fettling equipment and other related equipment.
• Oversee equipment is operated safely and correctly.

Safety & 5S

• Ensure use of required PPE by all personnel.
• Enforce safe material handling, machine guarding and workplace safety practices.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping in the post-pouring/fettling area.
• Identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action.
• Report accidents, near misses and safety hazards to the concerned authority.

Reporting & Coordination

• Prepare daily/shift production reports.
• Record output, rejection, rework, manpower, downtime and productivity.
• Coordinate with Melting, Pouring, Quality, Maintenance, Stores and Dispatch.
• Escalate production, quality and equipment issues to the Production Manager.
• Ensure smooth handover of pending work and critical issues between shifts.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
