What they need
About ePropelled
ePropelled is a power and propulsion solutions provider operating across the unmanned systems, robotics,
aerospace and defence markets.
We design, manufacture and supply advanced electric propulsion and power systems for next-generation
unmanned vehicles and robotic platforms.
Operating across the UK, USA and India, ePropelled is a rapidly growing international business with
engineering, manufacturing and commercial operations across multiple locations.
As the business continues to scale, we are strengthening our finance function to improve forecasting,
commercial analysis and decision support across the Group.
The Role
We are looking for an FP&A Analyst to join our UK finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller.
This is a commercially focused analytical role supporting financial planning, forecasting and management
decision-making across ePropelled.
The role will work closely with Finance, Sales, Operations, Engineering and Manufacturing to understand
business performance, identify the key drivers behind results and improve the quality of forward-looking
financial information.
This is not primarily an accounting or month-end reporting role. While a strong understanding of financial
statements is important, we are open to candidates from accounting, finance, economics, business analysis,
data or commercial backgrounds who can demonstrate strong analytical and financial modelling capability.
The FP&A Analyst will also have regular exposure to the Head of Finance and senior management through
forecasting, performance and business planning activities.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Forecasting
Support the preparation of annual budgets and financial plans.
Maintain rolling forecasts for revenue, gross margin, operating expenditure, headcount and cash.
Build and maintain financial models to support business planning.
Work with departmental managers to understand and challenge forecast assumptions.
Track actual performance against budget and forecast.
Identify emerging financial risks and opportunities.
Support scenario planning and sensitivity analysis.
Management Reporting & Analysis
Support the preparation of monthly management reporting.
Produce clear variance analysis explaining performance against budget, forecast and prior periods.
ePropelled | FP&A Analyst
Analyse revenue, gross margin, operating costs and profitability.
Develop and maintain KPI reporting across the Group.
Identify trends, risks and areas requiring management attention.
Improve the clarity and usefulness of management information.
Commercial & Operational Analysis
Analyse profitability by customer, product, programme and business area.
Support pricing and margin analysis.
Build financial cases for new products, programmes and investments.
Support make-versus-buy and other operational decisions.
Assist with capacity, headcount and cost modelling.
Work with Sales to improve revenue forecasting and pipeline visibility.
Work with Operations and Manufacturing to understand cost drivers and operational performance.
Support management with ad hoc commercial and financial analysis.
Cash Flow & Working Capital
Support short and medium-term cash forecasting.
Analyse working capital, including inventory, receivables and payables.
Identify opportunities to improve cash conversion.
Model the cash impact of commercial and operational decisions.
Support scenario analysis around growth, investment and funding requirements.
Systems & Data
Work with financial and operational information held within Odoo and other business systems.
Help improve financial reporting and data quality.
Develop efficient reporting and analysis using Excel and business intelligence tools.
Reduce reliance on manual reporting where practical.
Support the development of automated dashboards and management information.
Work with the Business Systems team where appropriate to improve reporting capability.
Experience & Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
A good understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow.
The ability to understand the operational and commercial drivers behind financial performance.
Strong numerical ability and attention to detail.
The ability to turn complex data into clear management information.
Good communication skills and the confidence to question assumptions.
A proactive approach to investigating variances and inconsistencies.
The ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
Background
Candidates may come from a range of backgrounds, including:
FP&A.
Management accounting or commercial finance.
Economics or corporate finance.
Business or financial analysis.
Data or business intelligence roles with strong financial exposure.
Consulting or strategy.
ePropelled | FP&A Analyst
Operational or commercial analysis.
A professional accounting qualification is not essential.
Part-qualified or qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA candidates would be considered, but we are equally
interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong commercial understanding, financial modelling and
analytical capability through another route.
Desirable Experience
Manufacturing.
Engineering or technology businesses.
Aerospace, defence or unmanned systems.
Multi-company or international organisations.
ERP systems, particularly Odoo.
Power BI, Metabase, SQL or similar business intelligence tools.
Product costing or manufacturing margin analysis.
Revenue and sales pipeline forecasting.
Scenario modelling and investment analysis.
What Success Looks Like
Within the role, we would expect the FP&A Analyst to help ePropelled develop:
Reliable rolling financial forecasts.
Clear visibility of revenue, margin, costs and cash.
Better understanding of customer, product and programme profitability.
Consistent KPI reporting across the Group.
Faster and more useful management reporting.
Stronger linkage between financial performance and operational activity.
Financial analysis that actively influences management decisions rather than simply reporting historic
performance.
The Opportunity
This role provides an opportunity to build broad FP&A and commercial finance experience within a growing
international technology and manufacturing business.
You will work closely with the Financial Controller while gaining regular exposure to the Head of Finance and
senior management across the UK, USA and India.
As ePropelled grows, there will be significant opportunity for the role to develop alongside the Finance
function, including the potential to take on broader FP&A responsibility over time.
