Fraud Supervisor / Senior Fraud Specialist

Location: Sacramento, CA
Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 annually, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site

Position Overview

We are partnering with an established Northern California community bank seeking an experienced Fraud Supervisor or Senior Fraud Specialist to support its Fraud and BSA functions.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who understands retail banking fraud, enjoys investigative work, and can operate independently without extensive oversight. The ideal candidate will bring experience identifying and investigating suspicious activity involving deposit accounts, checks, ACH transactions, and other banking products.

The position offers an opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day fraud investigations, contribute to process improvements, and work closely with bank leadership in a collaborative community banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and investigate suspicious transactions, including check fraud, ACH fraud, deposit account fraud, and other fraudulent banking activity.
  • Utilize fraud monitoring and AML systems, including Verafin or comparable platforms, to identify, investigate, and resolve suspicious activity.
  • Conduct investigations, document findings, and assist with Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) preparation, including narrative development.
  • Partner with BSA, Compliance, Operations, and branch personnel to identify potential fraud risks and coordinate appropriate responses.
  • Support ongoing compliance with BSA/AML, OFAC, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in evaluating and improving fraud monitoring procedures, internal controls, and investigation processes.
  • Provide guidance and training to bank employees regarding fraud identification, prevention, and escalation.
  • Maintain accurate investigative records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Support departmental initiatives and potentially provide supervisory oversight as the team develops.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in banking fraud investigations, financial crimes, BSA/AML, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of retail banking transactions, particularly checks, ACH, and deposit account activity.
  • Experience conducting fraud investigations and documenting suspicious activity.
  • Familiarity with SAR investigations, preparation, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Experience with Verafin or similar fraud monitoring and AML systems strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize investigations, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is a plus but not required.
  • Community bank or credit union experience preferred.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Join an established community bank with an accessible leadership team and collaborative culture.
  • Take on a meaningful role with the opportunity to influence fraud prevention processes and procedures.
  • Work directly with experienced BSA and compliance leadership.
  • Opportunity for professional growth and increased responsibility.
  • Competitive compensation of $70,000–$80,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including bonus opportunities, profit-sharing, and retirement benefits.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Fraud Investigator or Senior Fraud Analyst looking to take the next step in their career while remaining actively involved in investigations and fraud prevention.
