Freelance Bengali Interpreter

We are seeking Freelance Bengali Interpreters to facilitate effective communication between Bengali-speaking clients and service providers across diverse settings. The ideal candidate will have strong Bengali and English language proficiency, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to accurately interpret spoken communication. This role is vital in supporting clear communication and equitable access to services in healthcare, legal, educational, and community settings.

Duties

• Provide accurate interpretation between Bengali and English in real time.
• Facilitate effective communication during meetings, medical appointments, legal proceedings, educational settings, and community services.
• Accurately convey the meaning, tone, and intent of speakers while maintaining impartiality and professionalism.
• Maintain confidentiality of all interpreted information in accordance with privacy standards and professional ethics.
• Adapt communication approaches to support individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Work collaboratively with clients, service providers, and professionals to ensure clear and effective communication.

Experience / Qualifications

• Formal training in interpretation from a recognized institution OR the ability to enroll in our Community Interpreter Core Training Program, with subsidies available.
• Strong proficiency in Bengali and English, demonstrated through ILSAT or CILISAT, or the ability to complete language proficiency testing.
• Proven experience in Bengali interpretation within healthcare, legal, educational, or community settings is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey messages accurately and effectively.
• Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality, professional boundaries, and interpreter ethics.
• Experience working with Bengali-speaking communities or multicultural populations is considered an asset.
