About the role:
J&R Marketing is hiring freelance video editors to join our contractor network. Video is one of the fastest growing parts of what we do for clients, and we are adding editors to the roster to keep up with it.

This is contract work, project to project. You accept the edits that fit your schedule and skill set, pass on the ones that don't. The more reliable and versatile you are, the more work comes your way.

We lean toward editors who are dialed in on the advanced side, strong on motion graphics, color, and the craft of a real cut, but we are open across skill levels. What we are not looking for is someone who only cuts where they're told. Most projects come with footage and a brief, and we need an editor who can read what the client is trying to say, pick the soundbites that matter, and make the calls on structure, music, and pacing.

What you'll typically be editing:
Most projects come in as batches tied to a shoot or content session, not one-off clips. A single assignment often means multiple deliverables from the same footage.
The bulk of the work is:

• Talking head videos
• Content sessions filmed in our studio
• Social media content with motion graphics, captions, and on-brand treatment

Alongside the regular work, you'll see:

• Website header videos
• Commercials and ads, often cut into multiple versions for testing
• Event recaps
• Project progress videos, before and afters, and walkthroughs built from multiple shoot days

How it works:
Edits come in through our Media Manager, who assigns them based on fit, availability, and project type. Once you're onboarded, you'll see incoming projects and can accept the ones that work for you.

What we are hiring for:
We want a mix of skill sets across the roster. That means we are open to editors who are strong in different areas, including:

• Interview and soundbite-driven edits where context and tone matter
• Short-form social content for vertical formats
• Motion graphics, masking, and clean on-screen text
• Color correction and grading
• Audio cleanup and mixing
• Ads and commercials
• Event recaps that capture what the day felt like

You don't need to do all of it. Tell us what you're strongest at, and what you want to grow into. The more you can do well, the more projects fit you.

What you provide:

• Your own setup. A computer that can handle professional editing, your own editing software (Premiere Pro preferred), and an internet connection fast enough to download footage and upload exports.
• Strong English and good judgment. You'll be cutting interviews where the meaning of what someone says matters, so you need to know the difference between a good line and the right one.
• On-time delivery. Hit the deadline you agreed to. If something is going to take longer, tell us before the deadline, not after. Revisions come through Frame.io and need to be turned around quickly.
