Curran Building Solutions is a construction consultancy providing professional services to homeowners, contractors and property developers across Ireland. Our services include quantity surveying, project management, property surveys, grant application support, mortgage costings, health & safety consultancy and construction advisory services.

Due to continued demand, we are seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to work with us on an as-required basis.

The Role

The successful candidate will support Curran Building Solutions with a variety of residential, refurbishment and renovation projects. Work will be allocated as required, making this role particularly suitable for an established freelance QS, self-employed professional or an experienced Quantity Surveyor seeking additional flexible work.

Typical duties may include:

• Preparing detailed construction cost estimates and cost plans
• Preparing schedules of works and bills of quantities
• Reviewing contractor quotations and tender returns
• Producing costings for residential renovations, extensions and refurbishment projects
• Preparing costings to support Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant and other grant applications
• Preparing mortgage and lender costings
• Assessing variations and additional works
• Reviewing invoices, valuations and project expenditure
• Providing general commercial and cost advice
• Liaising with our engineers, clients and contractors as required

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should have:

• A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying
• Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor
• Strong knowledge of construction costs, materials and current market rates
• Experience in residential refurbishment and renovation projects
• Ability to prepare clear, detailed and accurate cost documentation
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines
• Strong Excel and general IT skills

Experience with Vacant Property Refurbishment Grants, residential renovation costings and mortgage costings would be particularly advantageous.

Working Arrangement

This is not a permanent full-time position. Work will be offered on a freelance / subcontract basis as required, depending on project workload.

The role offers flexibility and may suit somebody already operating independently who wishes to take on additional QS work.
