What they need
The product you’ll work on
One of our products is a Virtual Data Room, a secure document management tool built into our investment platform. Thousands of investors, asset managers and other private market professionals already use it.
We want to bring the best of modern file management to Private Equity and Asset Management. People expect the experience of the document tools they use every day. Private markets add their own workflows, security requirements and complexity on top.
There’s a lot left to improve. Documents can be easier to organise, share and access. Some manual work can disappear. And AI can help in places where it makes the experience better.
We’re looking for a senior full-stack engineer with a strong product mindset to keep building this product with us.
What you’ll build
The product is live, with real users, plenty of feedback, and a product and design team to work with. Here are some of the improvements on our list:
Smarter document management. Explore AI-powered classification, automatic organisation, and ways to make large collections of investment documents easier to navigate.
Better file operations. Build bulk upload and download for large volumes of files, without hurting performance or UX.
Secure external collaboration. Give people outside the Roundtable platform access to data rooms, with the right permissions, authentication and security guarantees.
Document access and NDAs. Improve how confidentiality agreements are managed, signed and enforced along the document access journey.
Analytics. Show asset managers how investors use their data rooms: which documents they view, and how engagement changes over time.
These are examples. We start with a first set of priorities, and the scope can grow as we work together.
How you’ll work
This is a product engineering role. You’ll work with our product managers, designers and engineers to turn user problems into features. Depending on the mission, spending some time with the team at our Paris or Toulouse offices can help, and we’ll agree on it together.
We expect you to:
Own features end to end, from understanding the problem to shipping the solution in production
Challenge requirements, suggest simpler approaches and make pragmatic technical decisions
Care about the user experience as much as the architecture underneath
Build reliable, maintainable solutions, with performance and security in mind
Ship often, gather feedback and iterate
You’ll join an existing codebase and team, with enough autonomy to ship your own features in your first weeks.
The stack that matters day-to-day
Language: strict TypeScript, no any
Frontend: Next.js App Router, React Server Components, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Radix UI
Backend: Node.js, tRPC, Zod, PostgreSQL, Prisma
Async processing: Redis, BullMQ
Infrastructure: GCP, Turborepo
Observability: Datadog, OpenTelemetry
Why this mission
The product is live and used by thousands of people. You’ll hear directly from users and work with a dedicated product and design team.
The problems are concrete: document workflows, large file volumes, secure access models, and practical uses for AI. If you like engineering work where the product decisions are yours too, this is it.
Mission details
Contract: freelance
Location: Paris or Toulouse
Schedule: usually full-time
Duration: a defined first scope, which can be extended as the product grows
Start date: as soon as possible
Daily rate: to be discussed
Profile wanted
What we’re looking for
Strong full-stack engineering
Senior-level experience with TypeScript, Node.js and React/Next.js
Comfortable across frontend, backend, databases and async processing
Able to find your way in a large existing codebase and ship production-quality features on your own
A good grasp of performance, security and maintainability
A product mindset
You want to know why something needs to be built before you decide how
You care about UX and small details, and you like making complex things feel simple
You’re comfortable with ambiguity. You know when to ask a question, when to prototype and when to ship
You judge your work by what changes for users
An AI-native workflow
AI-assisted development is part of how we build software, and we expect you to be good at it. AI is a tool, not a crutch.
You use Claude Code, Codex or similar coding agents every day
You know how to manage context, delegate tasks to agents and use AI in development, testing and code review
You know how to check AI-generated code and keep quality high while moving faster. Ownership stays human
You’re curious about putting LLMs into real products, with a practical eye on reliability, cost and usefulness
Nice to have
Experience building document management systems, virtual data rooms or file-heavy applications
Familiarity with access control, document processing or AI-powered classification
Experience in fintech, Private Equity or Asset Management
An indie hacker or entrepreneurial streak, with products you’ve built and shipped
Domain Curiosity. You don’t need to know private markets yet. We’ll teach you the domain.
Other offers great for you!
