Freeze Dry and Packaging Associate

Job Title: Freeze Dry Operator- General Labor

Department: Production

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Location: Salem, OR Area

General Summary:

The Freeze Dry Operator participates in the freeze-drying production process to maintain daily workflow and completion of batches to meet production throughput.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect incoming products for damage and product safety.
• Prepare product for the drying process in the safest and most hygienic manner.
• Operation of freeze dryers, including filling, loading, and unloading trays.
• Complete freeze dryer turnover tasks including cleaning equipment to prepare for new production cycles.
• Continuously track and confirm customer number matches each batch being processed.
• Responsible for following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) as well as following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Set-up equipment for production start-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish highly desired
• Strong attention to detail.
• Highly organized with strong time- management and prioritization skills.
• Seif-directed, reliable, strong initiative, and bias for action.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with team members.
• Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Frequently exposed to temperatures ranging from 0 to 100 degrees and may be working near moving mechanical parts.
• The noise level in the work environment may be loud while production equipment is running.
• Personal Protection Equipment (including, but not limited to gloves, hairnets/beard nets) required in the production area.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.75 per hour
