About Company and Role
We are a leading third-party logistics (3PL) provider based in Indiana, specializing in seamless freight movement and cross-border inland transportation across the United States, with active expansion plans into Mexico and Canada. Our comprehensive services handle freight movements from ocean and air ports all the way to final-mile delivery and distribution, primarily serving global importers and exporters.
Work Environment & Culture
We believe in empowering high-performing professionals by removing the administrative and operational bottlenecks that slow them down. In this role, you will work as an independent contractor, leveraging your existing client relationships and industry connections to bring business to the company. While you focus entirely on business development, hunting new clients, and nurturing account relationships, our dedicated backend infrastructure handles the rest. We provide full operational support, financial funding, and risk management, giving you a highly supportive, autonomous, and lucrative environment to scale your business portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Development: Build and manage a robust portfolio of freight forwarding clients by either transitioning an existing book of business or actively hunting for new commercial opportunities.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary, high-touch point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and long-term retention.
- Operational Liaison: Lead client interactions while seamlessly coordinating with the company’s internal backend operations team to execute shipments.
- Pipeline Growth: Continuously source new freight movement opportunities and expand your client book across diverse lanes and modalities.
- Service Delivery Collaboration: Partner closely with the internal operations team to ensure smooth, efficient, and reliable service delivery from port to final mile.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in U.S. freight transportation, logistics, or freight forwarding.
- Industry Network: Established, active relationships with exporters/importers or a highly verifiable, transferable client portfolio in the freight industry.
- Autonomy: Proven ability to work successfully as an independent contractor with self-directed, highly motivated business development strategies.
- Sales Acumen: Exceptional sales, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
- Financial Literacy: Deep understanding of freight operations, standard industry pricing structures, and accurate margin calculations.
- Remote Capability: Ability to operate efficiently in a fully remote capacity with minimal day-to-day operational involvement, keeping your core focus on client-facing growth.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Global Connections: Existing networks or connections with exporters from high-volume trade countries into the United States (Latin America, Mexico, China, India, Turkey, South Africa).
- Cross-Border Expertise: Hands-on experience navigating cross-border transportation logistics (specifically Mexico and Canada).
- Blended Background: Professional experience spanning both international freight forwarding and domestic U.S. inland transportation.
- Distributed Teams: Experience collaborating with remote, cross-functional backend teams.
- Business Model Familiarity: Comfortable with contractor/commission-based structures and a strong track record of successfully migrating clients when transitioning between logistics providers.
Other Information
Growth & Career Path: Unlimited earning potential tied directly to the volume of business you bring in. You will have full access to the company’s robust operational support and backend scaling team to help you expand your business volume exponentially.
