Freight Forwarder- Operations

The position is responsible for handling shipments from conception to completion – from liaising with customers & suppliers in an effective and timely manner whilst directing, compiling, and processing the necessary documentation, to arranging transport and final invoicing. This position is required to ensure that all import and export tasks are carried out in accordance with company and regulatory requirements to ensure operational efficiency, diligence, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work together with the account management team to ensure quality and accuracy of work delivered.

• Carry out workflow processes in accordance with management directive, customer instructions, SOPs, and specified requirements.

• Establish and maintain strong client relationships with DSV customers (internal and external), suppliers and service providers both locally and overseas.

• Read, interpret, and carry out instructions recorded on documents or within DSV’s systems.

• Communicate (verbal and written) with customers, suppliers, and other team members to obtain information or communicate issues.

• Ability to problem solve issues relating to information recorded on documents, calculations of costings and load size.

• Ability to plan and prioritize tasks according to specific requirements and deadlines.

• Implement process improvements.

• Support the Operations manager with day-to-day activities, and other reasonable tasks and projects as required

• Plan and prioritize shipments from the relevant CW1 workbenches to achieve milestone requirements, designated KPIs and deadlines.

• Ability to problem solve operational issues with a range of stakeholders including but not to limited: airlines, shipping lines, transport providers, co-loaders, and customers.

• End-to-end transport functions/tasks - meeting customer delivery expectations, adhering to KPI deadlines.

About you:

The successful applicant must have industry experience in Freight Forwarding (air and/or sea imports and exports) or have completed relevant certificate qualifications. Good communication, customer service, operational and numeracy (monetary and weights) skills are required. An ability to plan and coordinate to deliver desired outcomes within strict timeframes is a must in this role. Experience using CargowiseOne is preferred.
