Fresh Food Procurement

About the role

This role involves managing the sourcing, procurement and category management of vegetables and fresh produce. You will monitor stock levels and sales trends, develop a diversified supplier base across Singapore and overseas origins, manage direct purchasing and supplier negotiations, and ensure all sourced products meet applicable food safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor stock levels and sales trends for key vegetable SKUs. Forecast demand and address supply risks early to minimise stock-outs.
• Develop a diversified supplier base across Singapore and overseas origins, including Malaysia, Thailand and China. Adjust sourcing plans for seasonal availability.
• Manage direct purchasing, inventory and supplier negotiations, including pricing, payment terms and volume commitments.
• Benchmark prices against Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre and competing B2B platforms. Analyse landed costs and recommend ways to improve margins.
• Set product specifications and quality standards. Inspect incoming goods, resolve quality issues and monitor supplier performance.
• Coordinate with the warehouse team on receiving, storage conditions and FIFO rotation to reduce spoilage.
• Identify, assess and onboard third-party suppliers. Support them with platform listings, tools and service requirements, and review their fulfilment, quality and responsiveness.
• Maintain supplier, contract, pricing and purchase order records. Report on category performance, stock-outs, margins, supplier reliability and price trends.
• Ensure sourced products meet applicable SFA food safety requirements.

About you

• Experience in vegetable or fresh produce sourcing, procurement or category management.
• Knowledge of Singapore's vegetable supply market, suppliers, seasonal availability and pricing.
• Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Ability to assess product quality, manage inventory and respond to supply or fulfilment issues.
• Comfortable using sales and supplier data to forecast demand, monitor performance and make purchasing decisions.
• Familiarity with food safety requirements and supplier onboarding processes.
