Front Desk Associate I

Position Summary
The Front Desk Associate I welcomes patients and supports daily front office operations in a medical practice. This position handles patient check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and payments while providing friendly, professional service.

Essential Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors and assist with check-in and check-out.
• Verify and update patient demographics, insurance information, and required forms.
• Schedule appointments and answer incoming calls.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain referrals or authorizations as assigned.
• Collect copays and outstanding balances and accurately record payments.
• Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record system.
• Communicate with clinical staff to coordinate patient needs and appointment flow.
• Maintain a clean, organized reception area.
• Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements and company policies.
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous customer service experience preferred; medical office experience is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn scheduling and electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and interact professionally with patients and staff.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes preferred.
