Front Desk Receptionist/optometric assitant

Overview

A high-end optometric practice in Falls church, Virginia is looking for a friendly, energetic medical receptionist to perform high-end customer service, insurance verification, and data entry. Computer skills are a must. Evening and Saturday availability is a necessity. Compensation includes an hourly wage, insurance, retirement, and monthly bonuses. We are looking for applicants who desire a long-term employment opportunity only.

Duties

• Greet patients warmly, verify insurance and appointment details, and facilitate efficient check-in and check-out procedures
• Collect comprehensive intake information, including medical history updates and insurance details, ensuring accuracy for billing and documentation
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to protect patient privacy at all times
• Operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment including tonometers for intraocular pressure measurement and ophthalmic imaging tools
• Assist with ophthalmic patient examinations by preparing necessary instruments, explaining procedures, and supporting the clinician during assessments like eye refraction or visual acuity testing
• Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems accurately, documenting patient interactions, test results, and clinical notes efficiently
• Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone inquiries, and managing medical records with precision
• Ensure all patient interactions are conducted professionally with a focus on exceptional patient service and care

Requirements

• Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology/optometry preferred
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies
• Strong communication skills with a friendly demeanor to provide excellent patient service and support clinical staff effectively
• Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
