About NENAS

North East Native Advancing Society (NENAS) is an Indigenous-led, non-profit organization with over 30 years of experience providing employment, education, training, and community-based programs throughout Northeastern British Columbia.

About the Position

NENAS is looking for a friendly, organized, and client-focused individual to join our team.

This position combines front-end client services with coordination of NENAS’s weekly Elders Program. As one of the first points of contact at NENAS, you will welcome clients, community members, Elders, and visitors and provide professional, respectful assistance with inquiries, forms, appointments, program information, and community resources.

You will also coordinate NENAS’s weekly Elders Program, helping plan meaningful activities and creating opportunities for Elders to connect, participate, and engage with one another and the NENAS community.

This is a varied, people-focused position suited to someone who enjoys helping others, is well organized, can manage multiple priorities, and works well as part of a team.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client and program information.
  • Coordinate NENAS’s weekly Elders Program, including activities, scheduling, communication, and program logistics.
  • Develop positive and respectful relationships with Elders and support their participation in program activities.
  • Assist with planning Elders activities, gatherings, and special events.
  • Maintain Elders Program records and complete required documentation.
  • Enter client and program information into ARMS and other databases as required.
  • Support general reception and administrative duties.
  • Work collaboratively with the NENAS team to support effective program delivery.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in client services, reception, administration, program support, or a related field.
  • Post-secondary education in Social Services, Community Support, Administration, or a related field is an asset.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and client-service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with ARMS is an asset.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Ability to organize activities, manage competing priorities, and follow through on responsibilities.
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with people of different ages, backgrounds, and circumstances.
  • Knowledge of and respect for First Nations cultures and communities.
  • Experience working with Elders and/or Indigenous communities is an asset.
